Kelly Povroznik

I have been a Registered Dietitian for over 25 years and in the foodservice industry for over 34 years. I am a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, as well as a licensed dietitian in West Virginia. At the West Virginia University in Morgantown, I studied Human Nutrition and Foods and obtained both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees there. I completed my dietetic internship while working on my master's degree. I am currently pursuing my doctorate degree in clinical nutrition (DCN) at the University of North Florida.

During my career, I have worked various positions in the food industry. I have also worked as a clinical dietitian in North Carolina and West Virginia. I worked in school foodservice, starting as a a supervisor, director, and executive director for one of the top 100 largest school systems in North Carolina. I was also an adjunct nutrition professor for Fairmont State University.

I am a member of the American Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN) where I have participated in the national membership, self assessment, and leadership committees.
I am also the Ambassador for Malnutrition Week for ASPEN.

Along with my registration and licensure as a dietitian, I obtained also obtained a certificate of malnutrition screening in adults through the Abbott Nutrition Health Institute
and a certificate of training in obesity in pediatrics and adults from the Commission of Dietetic Registration. I recently completed my COT for functional nutrition and am working on taking the certification exam.

I was appointed by Governor Jim Justice to serve on the West Virginia Board of Licensed Dietitians in 2024.
