Marissa Ciorciari is an integrative nutrition practitioner with over 13 years experience, holding training in both clinical nutrition and functional medicine. Her approach is using a "Food as Medicine" philosophy to treat Inflammatory conditions in & outside the digestive tract, which influence one’s immune system, hormones, metabolism, vitality, and other body systems. Marissa’s experience as a clinician, clinical manager, nutrition professor, and business owner have all enabled her to find her true happiness – helping those in their path to health and healing. In her own earlier childhood Marissa was able to reverse her own struggles with being an overweight child through making changes in how she ate and moved, and has dedicated her career to helping those find balance and enjoy food once again. Since moving to Miami 6 years ago, Marissa has worked as a clinical manager in one of the largest South Florida hospital systems and a nutrition professor at Keiser University, until gradually transitioning to a full time functional nutrition practice. Patients of Marissa come for health and healing, often dealing with chronic conditions and symptoms such as bloating, migraines and headaches, skin problems, and digestive disorders. Marissa specializes in treating conditions related to the digestive system, women’s health and wellness, food sensitivities, and plant based lifestyles. As a Certified LEAP therapist, Marissa specializes in adverse reactions with foods, and helps people sort out food sensitivities vs. allergenic or intolerances with foods to help manage their symptoms and health. Being plant-based herself for 20+ years, Marissa supports and guides those interested in adapting a more natural and holistic lifestyle. Marissa holds 2 degrees in nutrition, receiving her bachelor’s degree in nutritional sciences from University of Connecticut in 2004 and graduate degree from Rutger’s University in 2010 with her Master’s in Clinical Nutrition. She is certified in adult weight management, and has received advanced training in integrative and holistic therapies through programs such as the Integrative and Functional Nutrition Academy and Institute of Functional Medicine, to name a few. Marissa has appeared in several media outlets as a nutrition expert, including Good Morning Maryland, Fox 29 Philadelphia news, WMBM “Medical Hour,” and several print and online magazines. She is an active member of the Integrative and Functional Nutrition Academy, Miami Dietetic Association, and LEAP therapists professional group. When she is not helping people find their nutritional balance, Marissa is enjoying life raising her little girl Mia, traveling around the world in search of great cuisine, scuba diving, and experimenting in her kitchen and new garden.
